It’s Halloween Sheeples!

Today, I get to celebrate my dumb love for everything horror, from movies to lore, to games and so much more. I have always been intrigued by the idea of the supernatural, in general anyway, for what reason I’m not sure, but it’s just that I find the subject interesting, to say the least, and over the years, I have been able to discover artists, creators, and mediums that depict this medium in their own unique ways.

Personally, I also had fun making many artworks and storylines that were based around this genre last year where I basically spent the entire month of October making artwork, writing stories, and watching movies. This year though, the movies stuck through but I didn’t really write or make horror-based art as such, and since I missed out on doing that, I thought why not share some of the things I ended up enjoying this month with you all!

So here are 5 movies you can check out today to celebrate Halloween:

1. The Autopsy of Jane Doe:

When I first put this movie on to watch it, I didn’t have too many expectations going into it. I thought it would’ve been your run-of-the-mill horror movie with the usual jumpscares and other such tropes, but I was truly surprised by this movie. The plot in itself is simple, but the way this movie has been directed, with each scene giving off an ominous vibe and making you feel creeped out, I would say this is one you Sheeples should definitely check out. The movie does well to make you feel trapped and make each moment feel tense. A surprisingly great experience if I’m honest.

2. Midsommer:

If you have the want to just get plain creeped out and feel like joining a cult on this fine Sunday, then be our guest and watch this amazing but terrifying movie, definitely one I won’t be forgetting anytime soon. I have to warn you though, it gets weird, and when I say weird, I mean weird. I don’t think I want to mention much more than this, cause I would love for you Sheeples to discover this whole mess on your own! Happy watching…

3. The Thing:

This is an old movie, released in 1982, and I just recently went about watching it, mainly because of how much it’s spoken about by multiple horror fans all across social media, almost like a cult classic (Moving from a cult to a cult classic). When I watched this film, I realised how much effort and work must have gone into this cosmic horror movie, with each and every set piece having been meticulously crafted and the designs of the monsters, more so how people are grotesquely changed by it is an amazing visual to watch. The movie is about a group of people on a research mission in Antarctica, where they discover all is not right within the group when they realise there is an alien hiding amongst them. The constant questioning nature of the movie along with the prop work truly makes this movie one you shouldn’t miss out on!

4. Train to Busan:

Big fan of zombies? Boy, do I have a movie for you! This one is a Korean movie and one that surprisingly hasn’t been watched by many people, considering how much the people who have watched it love it, it is funny how many people haven’t given this film a shot! The movie is set in South Korea and is about surviving the initial Zombie outbreak. I once again don’t want to say too much because it’s definitely a movie that you all should experience so please, do watch this movie! I assure you that it will be worth it.

5. Hereditary:

Finally, we get to this one, this crazy, creepy, tense, weird, and horrific movie. This, along the lines of Midsommer, will make you feel creeped out throughout the whole movie. The way the director chose to build each scene up, with holding on to the silent moments, keeping long shots where the focus is on the characters themselves, and the unnerving psychological journey they go through. The movie is definitely one that has stuck with me for a long time, and I cannot help but recommend it enough to people. This one will definitely get you to keep the lights on at night, looking around the room in worry.

So, what are you Sheeples waiting for? Grab your popcorn and get watching! Have an awesome Halloween Sheeples, now it’s time for me to get back to my Horror movie marathon! Also, on a side note, if you want to watch a good Hindi horror movie, then do check out ‘Tumbbad’. An amazing story about greed and what human nature is like which deserves recognition!

This is Ayushman Jain signing out!
